NAMEPA FOCUS

Training Educators

NAMEPA is a platform for identifying best practices among university programs in the diversity space. Through this platform, training opportunities are available for university administrators, K-12 students, teachers and counselors, new and seasoned MEP directors, and industry professionals who are committed to increasing diversity in the STEM fields.

Supporting Students

By supporting those who directly touch the lives of thousands of engineering students, and awarding scholarships to deserving recipients each year, NAMEPA helps ensure the entire student population within our membership has access to the information, services, and tools NAMEPA provides to pursue the lucrative field of engineering.

Serving Companies

Through its members at nearly 100 academic institutions NAMEPA provides employers with direct access to thousands of highly-qualified engineering students of color. By tapping into the NAMEPA network, recruiters can quickly, easily, and accurately target top minority talent for their workforce.

CONNECTING THE DOTS IN K-12 EDUCATION

NAMEPA embraces the collective work of organizations that focus on under-represented student success in engineering. We stress organizational excellence within our institutions and where staffing and funding levels permit, we partner with other organizational efforts to service middle and high school students that have been exposed to STEM.

CONNECTING TO STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

NAMEPA members advise and/or offer program and funding support to student organizations within our institutions. Organizational support includes but is not limited to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Society of Latinos in Science and Engineers (MAES), and the American Indian Society of Engineers and Scientists (AISES).

NAMEPA COUNTS: ENGINEERING DIVERSITY

Through its member institutions NAMEPA is able to provide institutional and national metrics on outreach, recruitment, retention, and graduation metrics for the programs that we execute annually. We draw from national educational data to develop intervention strategies to increase the flow of elementary, middle and high school students into STEM fields.

SCHOLARLY RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

NAMEPA contributes to and celebrates the scholarly research of experts in diversity and inclusion and engineering education. NAMEPA strives to disseminate this information to our membership and the broader engineering community to increase our knowledge base and bring thought leadership to the work that we do.

About NAMEPA

Success through engineering diversity

Our work since 1974 has contributed to attracting, retaining, and graduating underrepresented minority engineers, more than quadrupling the number of engineers of color in a field that has traditionally lacked diversity. Additionally, through our K12 initiatives, many other professionals can trace their start along the STEM pathway to a program administered by a NAMEPA member institution that exposed them to the exciting careers in STEM. We invite you to join us as we work to fulfill our mission of providing the services, information, and tools our members need to produce a diverse pool of engineers and scientists and to help America maintain its competitive edge.
